1957 MERCEDES-BENZ 300 SC CABRIOLET A
The superlative Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc represented not only the pinnacle of the exclusive “Adenauer” series, but also set the standard for luxury motoring in the 1950s. Endowed with a smooth 3.0-liter inline-six and Bosch mechanical fuel injection, the 300 Sc was the most powerful of the range, and has long been lauded for its blend of exceptional comfort, quality, and touring capability. Each 300 Sc was hand-crafted to order at Mercedes’ Sindelfingen works, and a total of just 200 were produced in Coupe, Cabriolet A, and Roadster form.
This is one of just 49 examples of the Cabriolet A built, the rarest of the three body styles. This numbers-matching Sc benefits from a well-maintained older restoration by Adenauer specialist Charles Brahms, and is beautifully presented in dark red over cognac leather trim. Features include a Becker Mexico radio, Bosch driving lamps, and gorgeous burl maple woodwork. Mechanically, the car is correct and in generally good order, though it has been on static display for an extended period, and some minor recommissioning is required.
The well-detailed and matured restoration displays a light patina, making this 300 Sc a fine choice for top-down motoring in a wide array of driving events. This vehicle just arrived, and a full description is coming soon. Please contact Hyman Ltd for more details.
