This 1969 Lotus Europa S2 was reportedly imported to the US from Canada around 1999 and was acquired by the last owner as a project in 2010. A restoration completed in 2014 involved removing the body from the chassis, repainting the exterior, replacing the interior trim, and overhauling the engine. The car is finished in yellow over black vinyl and is powered by a 1,565cc Renault inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes 15″ Rota eight-spoke wheels, front disc brakes, a non-Federalized front nose, DynaMat sound deadening, a Bubinga Kewazinga wood dashboard, and a Pioneer Bluetooth CD stereo. The body was removed from the chassis and sent to a fiberglass-specialist shop where it was prepped and repainted in yellow. The car retains its non-Federalized bodywork, featuring a lower nose without the raised headlight pods and side markers seen on later US-market models. Exterior features include a single windshield wiper, chrome bumpers, and dual side mirrors.
Gunmetal 15″ Rota eight-spoke wheels feature polished lips and Lotus-crest faux knock-off spinners. They are mounted with 195/50 Yokohama S.drive tires. The car has four-wheel independent suspension and front disc brakes with yellow calipers.
The cabin was stripped and fitted with DynaMat sound insulation, carpet backing felt, and replacement carpets. The fixed-back bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl with textured inserts. Custom Bubinga Kewazinga wood trim accents the dashboard, door panels, and firewall. Appointments include power windows, a heater, a wooden shift knob, Coco mats, and a Pioneer WMA/MP3 CD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity.
The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a Smiths 130-mph speedometer, a matching tachometer, and supplementary Smiths and Lucas gauges monitoring amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles. Total mileage is unknown
The 1,565cc Renault inline-four was installed by the seller and overhauled during the refurbishment. Internal components include Sealed Power Kromex piston rings and NTN bearings.
An owner's manual, a Dave Bean Engineering catalog, a workshop manual, Lotus literature, a factory spare wheel and jack, touch-up paint, and a digital jump drive containing records will accompany the car. Included spare parts are pictured in the gallery.
